We believe as a global citizen it is our responsibility to contribute to environmental conservation in Australia. Planet Ark’s Schools Tree Day is an important date in the Ricoh environmental calendar. Our involvement has been primarily with schools situated in the Blue Mountains approximated 70 kilometres west of Sydney. Each year a team of Ricoh staff assist the children of Warrimoo Public School plant over 500 native indigenous saplings in areas of the school grounds that have been reclaimed through the involvement of the local Landcare group. Our ongoing sponsorship has assisted the school to purchase the saplings and the gardening tools. The success of program can be measured by the growth of the trees planted, for instance the Ricoh banner pictured above is strung between Wattle trees we planted back in 2003. The children take on ownership of the program and commit to ensure the saplings are well mulched and watered to ensure their continued growth. Our involvement in National Tree Day is underpinned by Ricoh’s General Principles on the Environment and the our wish to engage children and show them the importance of the environment and the role they play in protecting and preserving it
