Super Fast Preventative Maintenance

Ricoh has developed a Preventative Maintenance (PM) program for its new generation of black and white production print engines that has reduce scheduled servicing downtime from an industry standard of four to eight hours to just 20-30 minutes.

This dramatic reduction in servicing time originated from a new approach to the PM process developed locally by Ricoh Australia technicians and further enhanced by Ricoh Japan’s redesign of its new series of production copier/printers.

Rather than refurbishing consumable units on site, Ricoh now simply replaces these units with an on-site kit provided at the initial installation. The time consuming refurbishment of these used units is conducted offsite at a Ricoh workshop and the refurbished units are then replaced at the next scheduled PM service.

Ricoh is able to train operators in 2-3 days to easily remove the replacement units themselves in just 20-30 minutes. Rather than waiting for a technician to arrive for a PM service, an operator can now pick the best time to schedule in the period of downtime.

The PM Program and Trained Customer Replacement Units (TCRU) are available for Ricoh’s new production printing devices; the MP 9000, MP 1100 and MP 1350.
