With Veeam’s Cloud Connect, Ricoh Cloud Backup offers offsite backup and disaster recovery

SYDNEY, 19 January, 2016 - Ricoh has launched its new cloud-based Backup-as-a-Service for Veeam Cloud Connect, offering customers a best-practice backup solution. Ricoh chose Veeam for this solution because it is an end-to-end offering with on-premises backup enabled by Veeam software, and offsite backup and managed services provided by Ricoh.

Ricoh is a gold-level Veeam ProPartner in recognition of its high-quality, high-availability products and services. Veeam is the innovative provider of solutions that deliver Availability for the Always-On Enterprise™.

The Ricoh Cloud Backup service lets customers manage different virtualised environments, reduces the strain on internal IT resources, minimises the risk of downtime, and makes disaster recovery easier. The benefits of choosing Ricoh’s Cloud Backup solution include a recovery time of minutes rather than hours or days, end-to-end security, and seamless backup copy operation.

The solution removes the need for VPN tunnels and dedicated repositories. Backups take place over an SSL-encrypted connection and cloud gateway. This means users can back up to the cloud, and recover entire servers or individual data objects directly from the cloud without having to download large backup files.

Satya Hariharan, Product & Marketing Manager ITS - Managed Services, Ricoh Australia, said, “Most organisations know how important it is to backup their data but it can become an expensive proposition. As the volume of data grows, getting backup right is vital. Ricoh’s Cloud Backup for Veeam Cloud Connect is a reliable, highly-available, offsite backup solution. It stores data within Ricoh’s private cloud environment, which is based in Australia.

“Having an Australian-hosted, privately-owned cloud gives customers peace of mind that their data is secure. Additionally, if an issue were to arise, customers can contact a Ricoh expert immediately to rectify the situation.”

Ricoh is partnering with Veeam for the availability solution because Veeam is a pioneer in this space. Veeam leverages virtualisation, storage, and cloud technologies that enable the modern data centre and help organisations save time, mitigate risks, and dramatically reduce capital and operational costs.

Matt Dixon, General Manager – IT Services, Ricoh Australia, said, “The Ricoh Cloud Backup is currently, a leading offering in the marketplace that allows offsite backups, while the customer retains full control of the backup environment. It helps customers leverage their existing Veeam investment, with a familiar console and set of tools to manage data securely, backed up offsite by Ricoh.

“The recoverability of the backup is key, and users can test recoverability of the backup and files from the convenience of their desktop. The Ricoh Cloud Backup backs up data in three locations: on-premise; in the cloud; and offsite managed by Ricoh.”

Peter Bender, Head of Channel and Alliances, ANZ at Veeam, added, “Today’s enterprises are more demanding than ever before, expecting access to all applications and services 24/7 with no tolerance for downtime. Ricoh’s Cloud Backup service will give organisations real peace of mind that in the event of an incident, services can become available within the shortest period of time. Our partnership with Ricoh makes this a reality.” The Ricoh Cloud Backup is available now, while a disaster recovery component is currently in development and is expected to become available in April 2016.
